on lake Tonle Sap, there are approximately 1 million people that actually LIVE on the lake! their houses are built so they float on the water. kids are born on the water, farming takes place on boats that are tied to posts driven in the water, and there is even a floating rec center for the kids to play basketball. The water in lake Tonle Sap comes from the Mekong River during the wet season. During the dry season (now), the water flows down to the south and splits into two smaller channels and flows into China. there are about 296 different species of fish that live in this lake.
